Avery’s Back at the Taboo Show for the Second Year
For the second year in a row, Avery was back to show at the Taboo Show - also known as the Everything to Do With Sex Show. We had so much fun being a vendor the previous year that we couldn’t miss the chance to show our collection once again. Out of all the conventions we’ve done, the Taboo Show has been one of our favourites. The energy exhibited here is unmatched and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of the craziness of this three-day event.
Located at the International Centre in Mississauga, the show took place last fall in October. When going in for set up, there was a sense of familiarity that allowed us to feel right at home. The layout was more or less the same with some new additions to the space. However, the energy was exactly as we remembered it with the same fun-loving crowd, thrilling sights and flashy sounds. The show had a definite party vibe to it with music blaring from noon all the way until midnight - it was the Sex Show after all.
Our booth was located off to the side in a less centralized spot this year, making it more of a standalone. This presented us with some unique challenges as the area lacked foot traffic. As a result, we had to try twice as hard to attract people to our booth. We did this by playing around with our display and adding more lights around our booth, as it was very dimly lit throughout. The bright side is when we did get visitors to our booth, it made it that much more special. Truthfully, in spite of our struggles, we were just happy to get our collection in front of such a large audience and to get Avery out there.
This year's show was extra special because we saw a return of the previous year's customers. It made us unbelievably happy when familiar faces came looking for our booth so that they could purchase another suit from us. One customer even told us that she'd make it a yearly tradition to buy an Avery suit every time that she comes back. This was incredibly flattering, showing just how much these shows mean to us. They're a great way to showcase our products as well as build meaningful connections for our brand in the long run.

What we love most about the Taboo Show is that it's just such a great vibe. Along with the music, the nighttime scene and amazing vendors, the people that come out to this are definitely more out there - which we love. As opposed to other shows we've done, the women here are not shy to show off their bodies and have no issues with our sexy styles. They love our cheeky bottoms, and our bold and feminine bikinis made with vegan leather. It's definitely the perfect place to showcase our sustainable pieces - one catered to an adult audience looking for adult things.
After each show, it's always hard to do the tear down and pack everything up. Doing the Taboo Show was no different. We loved seeing our pieces displayed in this nighttime theme. It really brought out the style of our brand in a soft yet sexy manner while being illuminated with the spot lights. If anything, the dim lighting did more to bring out the colours in our pieces and added to our all-black aesthetic.
We'd love to come back again to do the Everything to Do With Sex Show for a third time. It's always great meeting new faces at these events, whether its another fellow vendor or someone from out of town. We learn so much more about our business from doing these, which can only help us to improve our products in the future. If you missed us this time, make sure to catch us at the next one!
