Avery at the Everything to Do With Sex Show

Last year marked the first time we were able to showcase our collection in person. Knowing this was our chance to finally introduce our brand to the world, we took the opportunity to do as many shows as we could. Hence, after the Women's Show, we hit the road to our next show location.

We were lucky enough to be vendors at the Everything to do With Sex Show at the International Centre in Mississauga last fall. Taking place over the span of three days in mid-October, it was one of the best times we've had with Avery so far. The entire event felt like a big party all weekend long.

Taking the chance to light up our Avery neon sign once again, this show had us super excited and a little nervous. We were hesitant to sign up for the Sex Show initially because we weren't sure if it would be the right audience for our brand but it was a complete hit. We loved every aspect of it - from the dimly lit space to the joyful attendees and the everything sex-related vendors - it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we loved every minute of it.

The entire convention hall gave off an exuberant nightlife scene, being a 19+ event. There was upbeat music playing throughout the day, with the longest starting from noon up until midnight on the Saturday. It came as a surprise about the dim lighting but luckily for us, we had our neon sign to create some lighting for our booth. We were also able to purchase some last minute overhead spotlights (courtesy of Canadian Tire) to make sure everyone could see our products properly during the show.

We took every style with us in every size count. We tend to have our full inventory in stock during these shows and this was no exception. Our thinking is that you just never know who you're going to meet at these events - including how many friends our clients may bring with them. We found it's better to be overstocked than understocked in the world of bikini selling.

Although we didn't end up selling crazy amounts, the results were much better than that at the National Women's Show. The clientele was predominately outgoing, spunky women who wanted something unique and sexy to wear. Many of our customers ended up being women with their husbands, with many of their respective partners more than willing to help spice up their partner's wardrobe choices. We were all for this crowd of people who were fearless and loving everything vegan leather.

Not only was the crowd exciting but the various vendors we got to meet at the show as well. From sexy lingerie to specialized charcuterie boards shaped in a particular male's body part and being stationed right in front of a sex club, we were intrigued to say the least. Let's just say the whole experience was not for the faint of heart.

Being an adult show, everyone there had to keep an open mind if they were going to enjoy themselves. For us, we loved how empowering and free-spirited everyone was. We also loved how the lighting and atmosphere completely transformed the look of our pieces. We especially enjoyed seeing our swimwear in nighttime mode. There were suggestions for Avery to be marketed as lingerie swimwear at the show and we didn't hate the idea.
