Avery's First Pop-up Store at Stackt Market

This summer, our swimwear line opened its doors to our very first pop-up store at Stackt Market. This was a huge moment for us as we leapt from being vendors to full-on storeowners for a week. It was a great way for us to meet our customers in person and see which styles the people of Toronto are loving most.

Popping up at Stackt Market

Known for its industrial chic atmosphere, we set up shop at the largest shipping container market in North America known as Stackt on the morning of move-in day. It was such an amazing feeling to see our official store sign go up for the first time. We were no longer dreaming of bringing our brand to life. Here we were, finally living in it.

After a long gruelling seven hours of set up, we officially opened our doors to the shoppers of Toronto, eagerly waiting for our first visitors. Located at Front and Bathurst, our shop was the first unit you'd see when you turned in from the main entrance. We were fully stocked with all our collection pieces inside, and we couldn't wait to see who we'd meet in the week ahead.

The weekdays were on the slow side at Stackt but the weekend quickly made up for it. We also happened to be popping up during Caribana long weekend in Toronto, so the crowd definitely showed up. It wasn't a surprise the big seller ended up being the Mai Bikini in both colours for the week. She's a beaut and we were happy to see so many women walk out of our store with a new bikini for their summer vacations.

Apart from having our own storefront, we loved the sense of community at Stackt. There were an array of vendors selling everything from jewellery, vintage clothing, accessories and lingerie. Some were permanent residents while others, like ourselves, were only there for a limited time. We loved the modern yet quirky vibe at Stackt that we already can't wait to return next summer.

Our one-week stint at Stackt taught us a lot about being storeowners. We enjoyed having full control of our business, from creating the business hours that worked best for us to designing the entire look of the store. We went with all-black fixtures and furniture to match the look of our brand with feminine details for a welcoming vibe. In the end, everything turned out exactly as we had envisioned it.

Like we mentioned, we can't wait to pop-up again at Stackt Market next summer. This one-week pop-up was a great way to test out the waters in the Toronto market. Now that we have, we're ready to come back for a longer stay next year. We loved meeting everyone who stopped to browse our pieces, and showing them what our brand is all about. Look out for a month-long Avery pop-up coming up in 2024!

We couldn't be more thankful to Stackt for taking such good care of us the entire week. From making sure we had all the tools needed during set-up to coming by to check on us regularly, we felt right at home. Avery Swimwear will be back at Stackt Market, and next time we might even have a bigger space to display our swimwear in. Stay tuned to find out!
